Litter 3

Note:  Isidore aka Ozzy has found a wonderful home, he will join his new family and his Swissy cousin Indy in Downers Grove IL on June 25.

Date of birth:  Puppy delivered by c-section May 1, 2010

Sire:  Ch. Alki's Robert Redwood for Landhof "Robert"

Dam:   Landhof's Elsi III of Brush Creek "Elsi" (has 9 points towards her AKC championship)

Number of puppies:  1 male

Breeders:  Kathleen Borgmeyer and Brigitte Rhinehart

Kennel name:  Brush Creek's Isidore of Landhof

Comment: Our sweet Elsi is pregnant, the prewhelp radiograph on April 26 will tell us how many babies we can expect. We are looking forward to healthy and pretty babies with the great temperament of their parents. The babies will be born and raised on Brush Creek Farm.

Update 5-4-10:  Although they do not live together, Ms Elsi and Ms Frankie must have communicated somehow and decided that having one baby was just fineSmile! But while Frankie successfully raised puppy Ludwig, unfortunately, Elsi did not have any milk and consequently was indifferent towards her baby. Fortunately, little Isidore's 8 cousins have a mom with plenty of milk, and with those babies only 6 days older, Isidore joined them 2 days after he was born. Delphine let him nurse right away and once she starts to clean him, we know that she has fully accepted him. Until that time, Kathleen continues to bottle feed him between his frequent nursing sessions.

Update 5-18-10:  At 2 1/2 weeks, Isidore is doing great, he is fully integrated in Delphine's litter and she now takes care of him as if he were her baby. Although he nurses vigorously, Kathleen still supplements him a few times a day to assure a steady weight gain, he now is over 2 lb.

Update 6-1-10:  IS is now 4 1/2 weeks old and weighs 5 lb, he is on solid food but still nurses on Delphine and Kathleen supplements him occasionally. she just wants to make sure that he gets as much nutrition as possible. He gets along great with his larger cousins and Delphine thinks that he is just a smaller version of her own babies. A few days after he opened his eyes we realized that he had one blue eye which is interesting as blue eyes are usually associated with a lot of white in the face area which IS does not have. The Swissy standard lists blue eyes as a disqualification which means that he cannot be shown in conformation nor used for breeding. But he will make a wonderful companion for the lucky family who adopts him.

Update 6-6-10:  Our valiant little boy is 5 weeks old and weighs in at 6 lb. He is now fully on solid food but still nurses on patient Delphine several times a day. He has fun playing and romping around in the grass with his cousins, the difference in size is not holding him back at all. As of yesterday, Isidore is now Ozzy, he will join another Landhof-Brush Creek Swissy, Ms Indy, and the Simon family in Downers Grove IL at the end of the month.
